ABOUT US

eit swim(pronounced " i: tō " or "ee-toh") was founded in 2018 in Tokyo by two surfers. Ito (thread) means "to connect" in Japanese. Currently based in Tokyo and California.

BEACH & CITY

Urban sensibility, ocean freedom.
For us, moving between the city and the sea, swimwear was never something reserved only for the beach—it was simply an extension of everyday life. We would leave the ocean and head straight into the city. In Tokyo, many of our friends had little connection to the sea, and we wondered: what if swimwear could be worn in the city as part of everyday fashion?

From that idea came our tank-top and camisole style swimwear—pieces designed to dry quickly even after sweat or water. They offer the performance needed for real ocean activities like surfing, while maintaining a design that feels natural as a fashion item in the city.
In our visuals, we also propose styling swimwear with vintage pieces—the most sustainable form of fashion. Our aim is simple: a summer where the sea and the city blend seamlessly, and where both can be enjoyed with ease.

TRADITION & MODERNITY

Bringing the value of handcraft back into everyday life.
While traveling across Japan in search of waves, we unexpectedly encountered traditional dyeing techniques passed down for centuries, natural pigments, and finely crafted tools such as stencils and washi paper — all reflecting remarkable skill and precision. These traditions and handcrafts were born from lives lived closely with nature. We learned that they are not only beautiful, but also inherently sustainable choices.
Through collaborations with Japanese artisans, we aim to reintroduce the warmth of handcraft, the skill of makers, and the wisdom of local cultures into daily life.
From design to sewing, every process is carried out in Japan, making eit swim a proudly Made in Japan brand.
Our work reflects a quiet Japanese sense of beauty, a reexamination of long-held values, and a gentle resistance to mass production and excessive consumption.

HUMANITY & NATURE

Choosing a way of making that does not harm the ocean, mountains, or forests.
Spending countless hours in the ocean and surrounded by nature, we have witnessed pollution, erosion, and climate change firsthand. What should be a natural responsibility for all of us can easily go unnoticed unless we face it directly. We want not only those who live close to nature, but also those in cities, to engage with these realities. That belief drives our ongoing communication as a brand.
As part of our responsibility, we use recycled nylon made from discarded fishing nets, recycled polyester from unwanted clothing, and natural materials whenever possible.
Packaging is kept to a minimum, with recycled paper encouraged. We pursue slow fashion through ageless and timeless designs.
