How often do you wear your swimsuit?

As summer approaches, we start thinking about what kind of swimsuit we want to wear this year. We look for new designs, find a favorite, and head to the beach or pool.

But how many times do we actually wear that swimsuit in a year?

Maybe a few days at the beach, a few visits to the pool. Even if we make the most of summer, we might end up wearing it only a handful of times.

In fact, a survey conducted by the Japanese women's magazine anan found that respondents wore swimsuits an average of 2.6 times a year. Some wore theirs as many as 10 times, while others wore a swimsuit just once a year, or even less.

Perhaps we get fewer chances to wear a swimsuit than we think.

And when summer ends, it goes back into the closet.

We buy a swimsuit we love, wear it a few times, and before we know it, another year has passed. Then, when the next summer rolls around, we start looking for something new all over again.

It feels like a bit of a waste.

If we're going to choose a swimsuit we love, why not wear it more often, and for more of the year, rather than just a few days in summer?

What if we simply found more occasions to wear our swimsuits?

We started thinking about how we could enjoy them a little differently.

Making the Most of What Swimwear Has to Offer

Swimwear has qualities that set it apart from everyday clothing.

Stretch fabrics that move with your body. Materials designed to handle getting wet. And depending on the style, features such as quick-drying fabric and UV protection that can be useful for active days outdoors.

When we start thinking about these qualities, we realize that swimsuits can be useful for so much more than the beach or pool.

Think about those especially hot summer days in the city. A look that's functional without feeling overly sporty can be a great choice.
Swimwear can also work for yoga, the gym, Pilates, running, and other activities that get you moving. It's a natural fit for outdoor adventures like fishing and camping, too. And when you're traveling and want to pack light, versatile pieces that work in multiple settings can make all the difference.

Rather than thinking about turning a swimsuit into everyday clothing, we like to think of it this way:

What if we brought the comfort and functionality of swimwear into our everyday lives?

It's a small shift in perspective, but one that opens up a whole new way to wear the pieces we already love.

Which Swimwear Styles Work Best for Everyday Wear?

At eit swim, we offer a range of pieces that work just as well in everyday settings as they do by the water.

Swim Tank Top

The simple tank-style swimsuit is one of eit swim's signature styles. Pair it with denim or wide-leg pants for an easy summer look around town. Wear it on its own or layer it under a cardigan, shirt, or a low-cut long-sleeve top.

It's also a great option for workouts when paired with leggings. And when you're traveling, you can head straight from wherever you are to the beach or pool without needing to change.

Mini Wrap Top

With its wrap-front design that follows the shape of the body, this bikini top creates a clean, streamlined look. It also works well as a layering piece under everyday clothing, and the wrap design can be especially convenient for nursing.

Overlay Swim Cami

Lightweight and delicate in appearance, this swim cami is made for layering. Try wearing it over a bikini top or layering it with another cami or tank top to create different looks. Its understated design also makes it easy to incorporate into everyday outfits.

Swim Dress

Easy to change in and out of at the beach, this versatile piece is made for going straight into the water. After swimming, simply wring out the excess water and it dries relatively quickly.

Its classic design makes it easy to wear beyond summer, too. Pair it with a bikini top in warmer weather, then layer it over a long-sleeve tee or shirt as the seasons change. You can also lower it to your hips and wear it as a skirt.

Not Just for Summer: Swimwear in Fall and Winter

When we think of swimsuits, summer usually comes to mind.

But swimwear can be part of your wardrobe in fall and winter, too.
Wear it under a shirt or jacket. Layer it with a sweater or sweatshirt. Use it as a base layer for skiing or snowboarding.
There are plenty of ways to incorporate swimwear into cold-weather outfits.

These aren't just ideas we've come up with in theory. They're based on the real-life experiences of our customers, friends, and our own team.

When a swimsuit works across different seasons, you naturally find more opportunities to wear it.

A Little Care Goes a Long Way

Taking good care of your swimsuit helps you enjoy it for longer.

After swimming in the ocean or pool, rinse it with fresh water as soon as you can. Avoid leaving it wet for long periods, and let it dry completely in a well-ventilated area before storing it.

A few simple habits can help you keep a favorite piece in good condition for seasons to come.

Wear It Longer. Wear It More Often.

For days at the beach.
For your next trip.
For hot days around town.
For yoga, the gym, or a run.
And for layering through fall and winter.

When we expand the places and occasions where we wear swimwear, a piece that might otherwise be worn just a few times each summer can become part of our everyday wardrobe.

There's always something special about choosing a new swimsuit. But there's also something rewarding about getting more out of the one you already own.

Rather than limiting yourself to what a swimsuit is traditionally meant for, we hope you'll find your own ways to wear it, enjoy it, and make it part of your life for longer.
