Designer’s Notes: Shaped by the People Who Wear It
“It's so convenient.”
“So easy to wear.”
“So comfortable.”
“I wear eit swim all summer long.”
Since we started the brand, we’ve been lucky enough to hear words like these from so many people who wear and love eit swim. And for that, we’re truly grateful.
Were we intentionally designing for this kind of everyday ease from the beginning? Maybe. Maybe not. In many ways, it was something we came to understand along the way.
But every time we heard this kind of feedback, it made us think: This is what we want to make more of.
Little by little, these voices helped shape the direction of eit swim.
From One Swim Tank to a Whole Way of Dressing
It started with a minimal tank-style swimsuit we created for our second season.
At the time, ribbed fabric was still relatively uncommon for swimwear. We chose it because we wanted to create something that could move naturally between the water and everyday life—something you could wear around town without feeling like you were wearing a swimsuit.
Since then, we’ve seen people wear that tank in all kinds of settings and in ways we never could have imagined.
It wasn’t just being worn as swimwear. It had become part of everyday life.
That was an important realization for us.
From there, we gradually expanded the collection with more tanks and camis designed to be worn beyond the beach, as well as dresses made from swim fabric. What began with one simple tank slowly opened up a whole new direction for the brand.
Why These Pieces Have Become Everyday Favorites
We believe the reason our tanks and camis have become some of eit swim’s most enduring staples is their ability to solve those little everyday inconveniences—the things you don’t always think about until you realize how much easier life is without them.
Function
In the heat of summer, swim fabric dries quickly when you sweat and is made to withstand plenty of wear. And in colder months, these pieces can even be worn as base layers for winter sports.
Because the fabric dries so quickly, sweat doesn’t leave you sitting in damp clothing and getting chilled.
Versatility
Wear it from the city to the beach and go straight into the water. Once you’re out, it dries quickly enough to head back into town in the same thing.
And when summer is over, it can easily become a base layer for fall and winter.
Comfort
Our latest fabrics are incredibly light, with a soft, almost liquid feel against the skin. They’re so comfortable that, at times, it feels like you’re barely wearing anything at all.
Design
The designs are simple, familiar, and timeless. And that’s exactly what makes them work. They can blend into different wardrobes, different moments, and different eras without feeling out of place.
These qualities—comfort, ease, and versatility—are things we hear about again and again from the people who wear eit swim.
And every time someone tells us how much they rely on these pieces, we’re reminded of something that makes us especially happy: maybe, in some small way, we’re making hot summer days a little more comfortable.
A Direction We’ve Discovered Together
“It’s so convenient.”
“I wear this all summer.”
Each of these small comments has helped make our direction clearer.
In that sense, the eit swim we know today is something we’ve built together with the people who wear it.
If we had only been designing from our own perspective, perhaps the brand wouldn’t have taken this shape.
It’s the people who actually wore these pieces, lived in them, and shared their experiences with us who helped us understand what eit swim could become.
That is a big part of what eit swim is today.
Making Short Summers a Little Better
When we make something, we always hope it will make the hot days of summer just a little easier and more comfortable for the people who choose eit swim.
We’d love for eit swim to continue being that reliable summer essential—the piece you reach for without thinking, year after year.
And as we move forward, we hope to keep sharing those short, beautiful summers with you.
